Montgomery”I’d been meaning to read Pride and Prejudice ever since my sister gave me a copy of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, making sure I knew I wasn’t to read the zombie version before the original. It took me a few years, but I decided it was time to fill all the prerequisites for being able to finally read about some zombies.

My wife doesn’t like it. My mother-in-law doesn’t like it. Uncle Steve doesn’t like it. Frankly, I’m not sure if anybody on my wife’s side of the family likes it.
But I knew it was a book that has been – at least in the past – assigned to students in middle school and high school as an essential read. I also knew that it had won a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and that it is considered to be an incredibly influential book.

They love reaching out to one another when a book chosen for book club ends up being an enjoyable read, and they’ll each go out and either buy a copy or check one out from the library. Slowly the recommendation will trickle down the ranks, and, pretty soon, a large portion of the extended family will read the same book.
